C# and .NET

The latest development platform that is essentially the 800 pound gorilla of Windows application development.

C# is a relatively new programming language and paradigm that is rewriting the standard for contemporary application development. It was derived by Microsoft from the well known and powerful language of C++ as a response to the universal compatibility and ease of development of Sun's Java. C# retains the power and efficiency of the compiled code of C++, but with the added compatibility and ease of debuggging that comes with interpreted code.

This hybrid platform provides the best of both worlds, and, since it has built-in support for the .NET Framework, development time is reduced. Plus, with the release of the .NET Framework 3.5, you are guarenteed to have software that will run smoothly in any version of Windows from Windows 2000 and later (including Vista). We recommend the use of C#.NET for all windows applications.
